World Radiotherapy Awareness Day (7 September) is an inaugural global initiative that seeks to highlight the vital role of radiotherapy in cancer care, foster professional collaboration, and raise awareness about its impact on patient outcomes. In conjunction with the first World Radiotherapy Awareness Day, we are pleased to include a special focus on paediatric radiotherapy for this month's CPE event.

This presentation examines Zero Harm in healthcare, focusing on preventing Serious Reportable Events (SREs). It will cover details on Serious Reportable Events and how they affect patients and hospitals. The presentation will outline five key strategies: fostering a safety-first culture, implementing robust systems, enhancing communication protocols, maintaining continuous monitoring, and learning from incidents. Practical examples and case studies will be shared to show how healthcare organisations can effectively reduce SREs. The session will conclude by emphasising the vital role of healthcare professionals in maintaining patient safety through collaborative efforts and individual accountability.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) will be mandatory to ensure that healthcare professionals remain current in their knowledge and skills, thereby upholding high standards of clinical practice. This session will provide an overview of CPE and its various categories. It will also explore strategies to help individuals successfully meet their Practising Certificate (PC) renewal requirements through diverse SSR activities and available resources.

Radiation Therapists from the Radiation Therapy (RT) Journal Club will also share how platforms such as the Integral Dose podcast and academic discussions contribute meaningfully to continuous professional development.
